Race Preview: 2015 Run the Ditch Trail 5 and 10 miler

Love trails??  Love history??  Then this is the perfect run for you!  At the 4th Annual Run the Ditch Trail 5 or 10 miler on May 23rd, you will experience a historic run along the incredible Sterling Mine Ditch Trail.  Sponsored by Southern Oregon Runners along with Siskiyou Upland Trails Association, race directors Seth Weintraub and Steve Goldman have designed one of the most beautiful trail runs in Southern Oregon.

Sterling Mine Ditch Trail goes for about 26 miles and was originally dug by the Chinese mine workers in 1877.  SUTA is a volunteer organization that has done an amazing job creating and maintaining the trail system to be enjoyed by all.

You will experience pretty much everything trail running has to offer, single track, dirt roads, ravines, hills, gorgeous vistas with the beautiful valleys below, and more.  There will be awards given for the top 3 winners of each age group and a prize drawing for all preregistered participants.


Location: Bear Gulch, OR – Tunnel Ridge Trailhead (Little Applegate, OR)

Date: Saturday May 23, 2015

Start Time: 9:00 am

Course: A 5 or 10 mile loop, starting at Tunnel Ridge Trailhead, around to Bear Gulch, ending back at Tunnel Ridge.  Elevation gain is 500 ft for the 5 mile and 1500 ft for the 10 mile.

Facilities: PortaPottys will be available.

Cost: $23.00 for either distance until 5/21

$7 for children under 14 years of age.
