I ran this last year, and it was seriously fun. Items are hidden throughout the “course” and you have to keep your eyes peeled and think outside of the box, but don’t get too creative or you could add some extra mileage to the route and not be as efficient. It doesn’t take much for me to get turned around, and this isn’t a laid out course like a “typical road race”. At the stroke of 9:30 am, team captains are handed a list of hints, clues and tasks within an envelope (such as asking a stranger to blow a bubble from a piece of gum you attain at a specific location listed). Once you have your list, run out as as fast as you can pick wich order and which items you will go for first. Depending on what order the team chooses to tackle the list will determine how far you may end up running. I forgot to turn my gps watch on last year, but I seriously hurt like I would have after a long run! (Bring a “smart” phone that knows what it’s doing and you shouldn’t get as lost as I did.) No matter where you go and where you end up, be sure to turn in your clues, items and other memorabilia you might have collected on the run no later than 11:30 am. If you do arrive back at the start line after the deadline, penalties will be added to your points.
