The fun starts at 5:30 pm when runners check in. (Wear a “Discovery Run” tech tee available for purchase at Road Runner to earn double raffle tickets and another free beer.) A map is revealed at 6:30 pm sharp with 12 locations (or checkpoints) where participants can earn raffle tickets. Run or walk from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm to as many checkpoints as you can, because at 7:30 the raffle tickets are due for the drawing. You won’t want to miss that deadline, as $3,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs! After the group run ends at 8pm, an after party location is announced where you can kick back with friends and socialize.
From 7:30 pm to 8pm, enjoy the raffle and Widmer Brother’s beer garden. You’ll want to make sure to remember your ID to enjoy that part of the festivities and bring some cash for any extra beers. Additional beers are $3 and benefit the Ethiopia Project. Runners are also encouraged to bring their card/wallet to enjoy some deals you might score if you go shopping. Last, but not least, bring your phone that can take pictures of the map and some of the shenanigans taking place on the run and something to put your tickets in. I prefer to take a popsicle stick with some duct tape wound around it and I attach my tickets to the adhesive so I can easily look through the numbers as they are called out during the raffle. You’re welcome.
Go check out some great gear and products (some of which you might be able to test out during the run), bring your buddies and make some new friends, have a chance to win some raffle prizes and enjoy free beer. Does it get any better than this?
