Tofurky Trot 5K

I enjoy running on the holidays and especially love that my kids want to be involved and run these events with me... it feels like we are starting our own family traditions for these holidays.  This year, I have learned of the Tofurky Trot and can't wait to check this event out!  I'm a vegetarian and excited that there is a race that is geared for us plant eaters on a carnivorous holiday!   Vegetarian/Vegan or not, I hope you'll check this event out.  It looks like a lot of fun and is  focused on raising money for local groups supporting good health.

Beneficiaries are  Northwest VEG and Wildwood Farm Sanctuary.

If  you pre register before race day, not only will you beat the price increase, but preregistered participants are given a t-shirt.  Online registration will close on Nov. 26th. Packet pickup will be held at Foot Traffic (on Freemont St.) on Wednesday, November 26, from 2pm- 6pm.   If you need to register the day of the event, show up between 7:30-8:30am.

Race start is at 9am and festivities will end at 12pm.  The event is open to all fitness levels to run, trot or walk.  Well behaved dogs kept on a short leash are welcome to participate as well.  Prizes are promised to the top male, female and children finishers, as well as a costume contest.   Tasty vegan snacks and drinks at the finish line await the participants and random prize drawings.

Before you eat your big meal with your friends and family, come trot with us and celebrate the bounty of the earth’s delicious plants with some great Tofurky folks!

About Robin York (146 Articles)
Robin grew up as a couch potato and did everything she could to get out of exercise, until one day a good friend would not stop talking about this fun 5k race she was doing. Finally Robin got off the couch and trained for this "fun" race using C25K (couch to 5k program). After crossing that first finish line, she kept going and became a "runner". After losing 80 lbs, gaining health, a love of being active and setting a healthy example for her husband and kids, she thinks she'll stick with this whole "running thing".
