Race preview: Give n’ Gobble 5K/10K

This will be the eighth year of the Give n’ Gobble 5K/10K in Sherwood, naturally, on Thanksgiving morning. In case you are on the fence about whether to go running on November 27, the Give n’ Gobble race website helpfully notes that the average American eats 7100 calories on that day. 7100?!?

Besides earning some of that turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, etc., registering and running in this race benefits the local Helping Hands Food Bank. (Food donations are also welcomed at the race; the first 1500 food donors get a free race T-shirt.)

The race starts and finishes at Sherwood High School, beginning at 9 a.m. The 5K and 10K routes start off together for about a mile and a half before splitting, with the 5K looping back to the track stadium, while the 10K adds its own longer loop before connecting back to the remainder of the 5K course.

This is a chip-timed race.
