Race Preview: Ashland Anytime Fitness 5k and Kid’s Dash

Sometimes, what the doctor ordered is a simple 5k, no frills, just a good 5k.

The Ashland Anytime Fitness is holding a 5k and a kid’s dash (1/2mi) at the Ashland Dog Park on Saturday, August 23 starting at 8 a.m.

The race will take place on a bike path for a nice and easy flat 5k with some “small rolling hills”, according to their website. Which runners know can be code for all sorts of things, so proceed with caution. Although, I am sure there will be no grizzlies and it won’t be uphill both ways. I keeeeeed, I keeeeed. But, I am, personally, not a fan of the out and back, but I know they are good for mental toughness and that Ashland is gorgeous, so it won’t be bad at all.

There will be a raffle afterwards with prizes from Anytime Fitness and Rogue Valley Runners as well as prizes for top finishers in a multitude of age groups.

To sweeten the deal, a portion of every entry will be donated to the Friends of the Animal Shelter. See, look at you, doing all the good in the world and getting a run in at the same time. Go you!
