‘Warm and dry’ climate were the two words that jumped out at me when checking out the Pine Hollow Triathlon on June 8th.  Water temperature in June is usually in the mid 60’s and wetsuits are optional. The Pumice Man Double Triathlon begins at 8:30AM and is basically the sprint course, done twice. The Pumice Man Triathlon includes a 750M swim, 15K bike, 5K run, 750M swim, 15K bike and 5K run. The Pine Hollow Sprint Triathlon begins at 9AM and does the same course one time. Finally, they also offer an Aquathon Splash and Dash at 9:30AM, which includes a 750M swim and 5K run.

Besides the warm and dry climate, another bonus will be the views. The course should be beautiful.  With some gentle rollers, the bike loop takes you around the reservoir, which means a view the entire loop. The run is an out and back and does include some hard packed gravel, but looks mostly flat.

A portion of the proceeds go to First Responders and Pine Hollow Fire Department. With pizza, beverages and a raffle at the finish line, you can fill up before heading home or plan on staying at the campground and making a weekend out of it. Register now to save money. Day of registration is offered, with a slight price increase. The Splash and Dash Aquathon is $32, the Sprint Triathlon is $60 and the Pumice Man is $70. USAT Members receive a $12 discount.
