Hagg Hybrid adds a half marathon, teams up with Boring Marathon & Half for a unique challenge

Disclaimer: I’m one of the RDs for the Hagg Hybrid Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay.

Hagg-Hybrid-LogoThis will be the third year of the Hagg Hybrid, and we’ve added a half marathon to the line-up. The half, like the marathon and marathon relay, will also be a solid mix of road and single track trail. We’re working on a course map and will post it alongside the courses for our other distances soon. The best part – if you sign up before April 1st, it’s only $35.

It’s the first year for the Boring Marathon and Half Marathon, and exciting (!) race taking place in – wait for it – Boring, Oregon. (Technically it starts in Gresham, but runs to Boring and back.) For those who haven’t heard all the great puns about this town’s name, just check out the race website for some good ones.

Boring LogoWe decided to team up and create a special challenge: the Hagg-Boring Double. Runners who complete one of the distances at both races will earn a special prize. This prize may or may not include an empty growler and a gift certificate to a wonderful local brewery to fill such a vessel. (The Boring Marathon and Half Marathon finishes at a school; besides, who wants to have to kill a growler on a Sunday-Monday?) Anyway, I’ve already said too much!

You could run both marathons (which would also qualify you for the Marathon Maniacs), both half marathons (which would qualify you for the Half Fanatics), or one marathon and one half marathon.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
