One of the less exciting signs that summer is winding down is realizing that your evening run might happen in the dark. Here in Oregon, that can mean everything from finishing a run after sunset to heading out before the sun has even thought about showing up.
Stance’s Reflector Socks are a pretty simple solution to that seasonal change. This collection has reflective yarn built into the socks so it catches headlights and other light sources as you run.

The socks themselves are comfortable without trying to reinvent the running sock. There’s some targeted cushioning underfoot, breathable mesh in the upper and arch support to help keep everything feeling secure. They’re light enough for everyday running but have enough substance that they don’t feel like you’re just wearing a thin dress sock with a running shoe.

And because these are Stance socks, you get a little more personality than the standard white or black running sock. Depending on the length of the sock (they have quarter and crew), the Reflector line comes in colors including Volt (neon yellow), Cobalt Blue, Croissant (beigy) and Turbulence (grey), so you can go bright or keep things a little more understated.

Obviously, these are not going to replace a headlamp or reflective vest when you’re running in the dark, but having another piece of your running kit that catches light is certainly better than not having it.
The Bottom Line
At the end of the day, socks don’t need to be complicated. They need to fit well, stay put, breathe and be comfortable enough that you forget you’re wearing them. The Stance Reflector socks do that while adding some reflective visibility for the darker half of the year.

And if I’m going to be out running in the dark anyway, I don’t mind having a little extra stuff that lights up when a car passes by.
