Anyone perusing an event website these days will inevitably come across a familiar line: “Aid stations will be stocked with water and electrolyte drink.” And sure — that gets the job done. But, like most things in the running world, not everything is a one-size-fits-all approach.
You wouldn’t lace up Nike Alphaflys to run around Mount Hood, and you wouldn’t expect the same powder that fuels a 50K to perfectly complement a heavy lifting session. Maybe electrolytes shouldn’t all be lumped together either.
That’s where Stacked Fitness tries to carve out its lane. The core idea is familiar — hydration should meet the demands of real training, something most companies would claim. But Stacked Fitness leans more specialized, aiming their formulas beyond basic hydration (the stuff that fills bottles and race aid stations) and toward a strength-forward approach. Think electrolytes mixed with performance-focused extras like BCAAs and creatine to support training and recovery.
According to them, their hydration blends pull the best from a few categories: electrolytes without the artificial dyes and sweeteners, performance ingredients without the supplement-aisle complexity, and hydration powder convenience with a bit more purpose. On paper, it all sounds fairly layered. In practice, it’s actually simple.
We tested two options — Build and Tone — both available in the familiar single-serve stick packs (sold in 6- or 18-count).
As someone who ran 1,200 miles and cycled 2,600 miles in 2025, I like some variety in my training. For 2026, I’m hoping to dial back the cycling, up the running, and make strength training a more consistent habit. That’s where a combo like these formulas fits nicely — and likely for anyone trying to blend endurance with strength work.
- BUILD is positioned for strength-focused training days — heavier lifts, higher intensity, or chasing that plateau. It blends electrolytes with BCAAs and creatine to support effort, power output, and recovery.
- TONE leans toward “people in motion”: running, lifting, HIIT, or anything in between. It pairs electrolytes with L-Carnitine and BCAAs to support energy, lean muscle, and fat metabolism.
Flavor-wise, both are easy to like without veering into syrupy territory. Blackberry Lemon (Build) and Strawberry Mango (Tone) bring enough taste to keep things interesting without being overly sweet.
Stacked Fitness isn’t necessarily reinventing hydration, but they are attempting to tailor it. And for runners (or multi-sport athletes) looking for hydration that supports more than miles alone, these formulas may hit a nice middle ground between a basic electrolyte mix and a full supplement routine.
