Strava Segments of the Week: Holiday-themed segments in Portland

With the calendar switching from Thanksgiving Season to Christmas Season – we wanted to highlight a few Strava segments to consider.

I am sure most of us have heard of the lights of Peacock Lane in SE Portland. This year, Peacock Lane will have designated pedestrian-only nights December 15 and 16. This means the street to closed to cars and open to foot traffic only.

While there isn’t a segment on the road itself from what I can see, it is essentially kitty-corner to Laurelhurst Park. We recommend checking out the Laurelhurst Loop from Pine and around the lake, a 1.85k loop that will be a great pre-or post-race, and lights, section.

Another popular holiday event takes place at the Pittock Mansion is their Home for the Holidays exhibit, which runs through January 11, 2025. Obviously, there are a ton of great trails nearby in Forest Park and Washington Park, but there are a few which will take you up to the main attraction:

Lastly, if you are headed to Christmas Festival of Lights at The Grotto maybe consider running before or after. If so, 82nd to the Grotto is a downhill jaunt right into the lights themselves.

Regardless of where you are running this weekend, have a happy Christmas holiday!
