If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times—keeping your feet happy is just as important when you’re not running as when you are. There’s really no sense in logging miles in technically sound running shoes, only to wreck your feet during the other 12+ waking hours with shoes that don’t do you any favors.
That’s why I’m always on the lookout for casual shoes that bring the same kind of comfort I expect from my running lineup.
Enter the move trainer from while on earth.
This relatively new company has some serious pedigree behind it. Todd Meleney—who many will recognize from his time with NoBull—teamed up with CrossFit standouts Brooke Wells and Mat Fraser to launch the brand. That mix of footwear know-how and fitness passion is easy to see in the final product.
Visually, while on earth sits in good company. Think of brands like New Balance, On, or NoBull that lean hard into aesthetics, and you’ll get the picture. The move trainer comes in 14 different colorways, from understated to eye-popping. There’s a good chance you’ll find at least one pair that clicks with your style.
But shoes aren’t just about looks. On the comfort side, the move trainer delivers. There’s plenty of cushion underfoot, and while I wouldn’t take them out for a run, they’re exactly the kind of shoe I want to wear when I’m kicking around casually.
The toe box isn’t “extra wide,” but there’s more than enough room for natural toe splay. And the ThriveKnit upper hits a nice balance—flexible, supportive, and reinforced in all the right places.
Bottom line: if you care about your feet outside of training (and you should), the Move Trainer is a solid option that blends comfort, versatility, and style in a way that feels right at home in a runner’s non-running rotation.
