UYN Us Over: A First Look at the Kymra Running Capsule

Coming soon to Run Oregon, we’ll be featuring some shoes from UYN (Unleash Your Nature), a brand with deep alpine roots that’s stepping confidently into the running scene. While the footwear stays under wraps for now, the launch also includes the Kymra Running Capsule—a compact apparel line aimed squarely at long-distance runners.

The capsule keeps things simple but purposeful: a T-shirt, shorts, and tights, all designed for comfort and performance without losing sight of sustainability.

Materials & Philosophy

Like their shoes, UYN’s apparel leans heavily on natural and biotech fibers to hit the sweet spot between eco-minded design and high performance. The Kymea collection blends:

  • Ariacel – cellulose-based, quick-drying, and built to keep things fresh.
  • Flexicorn – a plant-based bio-polyester that’s elastic, lightweight, and UV resistant.
  • Natex – fully natural, helping reduce weight and odor on long runs.

It’s a materials story that isn’t just buzzwords: UYN is clearly aiming to deliver legit performance while keeping sustainability at the front of mind.

T-shirt

The Kymra T-shirt is the most immediately impressive piece. Feather-light and eco-friendly, it also packs in a few clever design choices:

  • Dry Light Construction for moving sweat quickly through the fabric.
  • Hyper Motion Shoulders with a seam-free, single-piece build for unrestricted arm swing.

Out on a few late-summer runs, it proved breathable and soft, never sticky or clingy—even when sweat was in play. The best compliment? It’s easy to forget you’re even wearing it.

I definitely recommend going a size up. I am a pretty firm Large in tops, but the XL was the ideal fit.

Tight Shorts

The Kymra Tight Shorts keep the thoughtful approach going. Cool Vent panels help with thermal regulation by managing a thin film of sweat on the skin, keeping temps steady without feeling soggy. They move easily, never bunch, and strike a nice balance between technical and everyday run-worthy.

Like the shirt, they feel lightweight and breathable, and they don’t come across as over-engineered—just quietly effective.

Honestly pulling these out they visually look way to small, but have a ton of stretch to them. Standard sizing worked for me. And honestly, I loved these. I wore with nothing underneath and it had enough support that this wasn’t an issue and chafing didn’t exist. The support almost made it feel as if I was wearing a jock. It was honestly as ideal of a fit as I could have wanted.

Socks: Runner’s One Mid vs. Runner’s Five Grip

Alongside the apparel, I also tried out two of UYN’s running socks: the Runner’s One Mid and the Runner’s Five Grip.

Both share the brand’s trademark technologies — things like ZEROCUFF construction (cuffless design to improve circulation), COOL AIR FLOW ventilation channels, targeted compression zones, and cushioning in key areas like the Achilles and forefoot. In practice, that means both socks feel light, breathable, and supportive without the usual pinch points.

Where they differ is in specialization. The Runner’s One Mid leans toward long-distance comfort, with its focus on reducing swelling and keeping airflow consistent. It’s a “set it and forget it” type of sock — easy to wear for long miles without thinking about it.

The Runner’s Five Grip, on the other hand, builds in an EXTRA GRIP pattern underfoot, designed to lock the foot in place and cut down on internal shoe slippage. It makes more sense for faster efforts, quick transitions, or technical terrain where stability matters. It also goes with a 5-toe construction (similar to Injinji) that may or not be your cup of tea.

Both deliver on comfort and breathability, but they both do solid work.

First Impressions

The UYN Kymra Running Capsule is a strong first signal that the brand’s sustainability-meets-performance philosophy extends beyond footwear. Both the T-shirt and shorts impressed with their comfort, function, and eco-tech blends designed for real miles. The socks did what good socks do – keep you moving forward and comfortable.

This is just the start—there’s plenty more on UYN’s site for runners to explore. But as an introduction to their apparel, Kymea makes a convincing case: gear that’s high-tech, planet-friendly, and built for the long haul.
