Mt. Tabor Park, located in SE Portland, is a beautiful place to explore, and you’ll get the opportunity to see that for yourself when you sign up for the Mt. Tabor Tar ‘n’ Trail 5k/10k. This race is at 9:00AM on October 219th and you’ll get a wonderful Fall run if you sign up for it now.

Mt. Tabor’s forested trail system features three paths circling the mountain. The Red Trail is a 1-mile loop that runs counterclockwise, while the Green Trail is a 1.7-mile loop heading clockwise.
Finally, there’s the Blue Trail, which is a 3-mile loop that also runs counterclockwise. The 5k route for the event is along the Blue Trail and the 10k will utilize all three trails, starting with the Red Trail and ending with the Blue Trail.
Both the 5k and 10k routes are considered challenging, mostly due to the hills. You’ll encounter both paved roads and dirt trails, which is where the “Tar ‘n’ Trail” name comes in. All trails will be clearly marked with the color that corresponds. (For example, the Red Trail will have red or pink ribbons/flagging.) Course monitors will also be out there on race morning to help you get where you need to be.
When you aren’t sure if you want trails or roads, how about both? Enjoy a true Oregon Fall run this year on October 19th at Mt. Tabor Park.
