Daybreak Racing always brings the best running experiences to the Pacific Northwest, and it’s almost time for the 2025 Cloud Cap in Mt Hood. This epic event is on Saturday, September 20th this year and runners can do the half marathon or the full “all terrain” mountain marathon.

Each distance has two different loop-style courses, each on the northern slopes of Mt Hood using trails and the Cloud Cap Road that gives this event its name. Both races start and end at Cooper Spur Ski Area which host iconic sights throughout the Cloud Cap-Tilly Jane Historic District.
The Cloud Cap Mountain Marathon starts off the day at 8:00AM and is a double-loop course that totals 26.3 miles of running with an ascent of 4800 feet and 4700 feet of descent. There are approximately 9 miles of singletrack trail, 6 miles of gravel forest roads, and 11 miles of some rough jeep road. There are 4 staffed aid stations along the course and an 8 hour time limit.

The half marathon begins at 9:00AM and is 13.3 miles long with 2400 feet of ascent and descent. It follows the first half of the full Mountain Marathon course. There is 4.5 miles of singletrack trail, 3 miles of gravel, and 5.5 miles of rugged jeep road. There will be 2 aid stations and a 7 hour time limit.

After finishing your event, stay and enjoy the post race celebration. There will be a meal and beverages for all to enjoy, and you will have worked up quite the appetite! Family and friends are welcome to join. There will also be awards and a raffle of some sponsor swag. All participants will get a custom award once they cross the finish line.
