The race might be Boring, but it’s for a great cause! Okay, this race will probably be anything other than boring but who can help putting a little bit of a cheesy spin on the name?

All the goodness and joy that is the Boring Marathon, Half-Boring Half-Marathon, Constantly Boring 8K, and Virtual Race Series can be found in its name. And in their philosophy when it comes to the finish line:
“We have always felt that runners should support runners. We are all one family. With that in mind, after your race feel free to return to the finish line and help place medals on the runners who come in after you. Handing out medals to our fellow runners would be a great tradition to start and a way to give back. Runners supporting runners, because we are all winners, no matter the finishing time.”

The marathon, half marathon, and 8K courses primarily use Springwater trail as part of an out and back toward Portland (and back, of course). Aid stations are supported by energetic volunteers and back at the trailhead, participants will earn a finishers medal and be encouraged to stick around for the casual after-party.

The Boring Marathon (and all its other boring events) is a non-profit event put on by members of the community to support future athletes through donations to Sam Barlow High School Track & Field and Cross Country Teams and the West Orient Middle School Track team. All events start and end at Boring Station Trailhead with its cute park for the littles to get their energy out and the non-littles to stretch.
While you are out there running or walking 5, 13.1, or 26.2 miles, future athletes are being supported.
