Daybreak Racing gives us some of the most beautiful trail races in the Pacific Northwest, and the 2025 Wy’east Trailfest is no exception. This event, showcasing the beautiful backdrop of Mt. Hood, has something for every runner on the weekend of August 9th and 10th.

True mountain trail running is not easy but also not an experience you will soon forget, and Daybreak always makes sure the ride is worth it. The Wy’east Trailfest has many distance options: A 50 miler, a 50k, a 28k, a 14k, a Half Marathon, an 8k and even a Kids Race, so come out and make it a family weekend adventure.

Bib pickup is mandatory on Friday August 8th for the 50 Miler, but you can come for a shake out run and Speedland demo first and then stay for movie night at Mt. Hood Meadows. You can also pick up your bibs for the other events, but it’s not mandatory for those.

There’s a lot on the agenda for Saturday August 9th. The 50 Miler is a point-to-point race which requires a shuttle to the east edge of Mt. Hood National Forest and finishes at Mt. Hood Meadows. Expect 10,660 feet of gain and 8,800 feet of loss. The 50k is also a point-to-point course with stunning views. There is 6900 feet of gain and 5900 feet of loss.

The 28k is considered one of the all-time best and most epic courses. It starts at Mt. Hood Meadows at 5400 feet elevation, coming down to 4500 feet, and back up to 8000 feet. There is 4300 feet of total gain and loss. All of these challenging courses offer volcanic alpine ridgelines, gorgeous wildflower meadows, waterfalls, and the most scenic forestland around.

Lastly, (but certainly not least,) the 14k Hill Climb has a very STEEP vertical race starting and finishing at Mt. Hood Meadows with 2,700 feet of total gain. Finish line cut off on Saturday is 9:00PM.

Sunday August 10th will set the stage for the Half Marathon which features 2400 feet of gain and loss. This single loop course starts and finishes at Mt. Hood Meadows and follows a diverse range of subalpine forest and meadows including Umbrella Falls and 2 miles of the Timberline Trail.

The 8k course is a clockwise loop course featuring views of the Mt Hood summit, the wildflower meadows, the Timberline Trail, and so much other scenic beauty. There is 850 feet of gain for this event.

After the race, stick around for awards, delicious food, craft beverages, and even some finish line games up at Mt. Hood Meadows. You deserve it!!
