Sole Searching: Roll Recovery SUPERPLUSH Shoes Puts Comfort in Motion

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “Roll Recovery“? I’m not a mind reader, but I’m guessing it’s probably their popular rollers, like the R4 or the R8 Deep Tissue Massage Tool. Was I close?

As runners, we know that recovery is about more than just rolling out tight muscles—it’s essential to help us stay strong and prevent injury. Roll Recovery seems to understand that, too, and they’ve expanded into recovery footwear, offering us an exciting new option to keep our feet happy. They’re rolling out a few styles over the coming months: slides, flip-flops, and their newly launched SUPERPLUSH shoes, which we’re reviewing today.

The Tech

Roll Recovery has dubbed this line “SUPERPLUSH,” and for good reason. Despite a relatively slim, low-to-the-ground profile, these shoes excel in comfort. The footbed is soft yet supportive, striking a satisfying balance between cushioning and structure.

You feel the plushness without any sense of instability; it’s a refreshing middle ground, especially compared to some of the overly cushioned options out there. They’re lightweight, but they feel structured, giving your feet the support they need without feeling too fragile or unsupportive.

The shoes are also sustainably minded. The midsole is made from an innovative blend of seaweed and algae, while the upper uses “AirYarn” crafted from recycled ocean plastics. It’s great to see sustainability integrated thoughtfully into the design, as it aligns with Roll Recovery’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.

Comfort and Style

Any recovery shoe has to nail comfort, and these do it well. You get a cushioned footbed that’s supportive enough for tired feet. They’re lightweight, which adds to their appeal, especially if you’re planning to wear them casually throughout the day.

The look is also worth mentioning. Roll Recovery’s recovery shoes resemble a casual pair of boat shoes, so they don’t scream “recovery footwear.” You could easily wear these around town without looking like you just came from the gym. The shoes are available in six colorways, ranging from solids to the Nature/Moon combo, which features a mix of grey, white, and green pull tabs. It’s a subtle design that works well in different settings, whether you’re at home, the gym, or out and about.

The Verdict

Roll Recovery has stepped into the recovery footwear game with a design that’s both comfortable and stylish. If you’re looking for a shoe that balances plush comfort with the right amount of support, all while being sustainable, these might just be your next favorite pair. Whether you’re slipping them on post-run or pairing them with casual wear, they’re a great addition to any runner’s recovery toolkit.
