Thrice as Nice (and Just as Spicy) at the Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge

Come out to gorgeous Oakridge, the Capital of Mountain Biking, to run the scenic trails of the 2025 Oakridge Triple Summit Challenge, which will feature 60 epic kilometers of racing over the weekend of July 18th-20th.

This year will be the 9th annual year of this 3-day stage trail running race. You have the option of conquering 1, 2, or all 3 of the forested trail runs for this event.

Friday, July 18th – 28k at Dead Mountain

This is the longest race of the weekend, and there are 3 aid stations that you’ll have the option of refueling at for a total of 5 opportunities. This run features running Devils Backbone and views of the Willamette National Forest.

Saturday, July 19th – 15k at Larison Rock

This race will also begin at Greenwaters Park, and there is 1 aid station that runners will see twice. The course for this race is 8 miles of single-track trail and 1 mile of gravel. I have personally ran up Larrison once and it is equally challenging and breathtaking.

Sunday, July 20th – 17k at Salmon Creek

After a few days of racing and climbing, I am sure legs and bodies will be tired. The Salmon Creek 17k is not the shortest, but it is the one with the least elevation (outside of a half mile climb to the summit at the halfway point). This looped course starts on the same course as the start of the Dead Mountain race, but eventually continues to run on the Salmon Creek trail.

There is only a single aid station, but the elevation – and especially the back half is a manageable downhill and only aid station on the course.

This event is dog friendly, though it’s limited to 5 dogs per race (for the first two races – all are welcome on the final day), and all dogs must remain on their leashes and behave. There is a doggy treat for all dog finishers, a doggy winner each day, and a doggy overall prize for the weekend. They will also get doggy bowls and biscuits at the aid stations, because they deserve it for their hard work too!

Runners are eligible for the overall prize awards for the entire stage race as well as the king/queen of the mountain, and the overall Masters and dog awards. The top male/female for each stage will receive a pair of running shoes!

Each day, all the runners will be awarded a free gourmet food. There will also be adult beverages, courtesy of Ninkasi Brewing. Non-alcoholic options will also be available.

If you are staying for all events, there is an option of camping at Greenwaters Park on Thursday – Saturday. You can use the showers at Oakridge High School (a ½ mile away) Friday and Saturday to get yourself spiffed up and smelling good again.

Interested in checking out the race before running it? Consider volunteering! All volunteers will get a free gourmet lunch each day and a $50 credit toward any Elevated Trail Racing event. If you volunteer for all 3 days of the event, you’ll get a 100% credit to any elevated Trail race!!
