Please reference this previous post for my official notice about how I’m done opening Skechers reviews with the same overused “Yes, that Skechers” intro. That bit’s retired. So let’s skip the disclaimers and get right into the latest drop from Skechers Performance—the Aero Spark, an everyday speed shoe that deserves real attention.

Looks
One of the strongest improvements across Skechers’ 2025 performance launches is aesthetic refinement. The Aero Spark looks like a proper running shoe—sleek, aerodynamic, and not overly engineered with dad-vibe style.
It comes in four colorways, and our test pair happened to be the most “look-at-me” of the bunch—white with a bright neon accent wrapping around the outer midsole. But let’s be real: in 2025, that color combo is more “standard runway” than “outlier.” If loud isn’t your speed, the other three options should hit the mark. The navy/muted orange and lime/blue options offer enough flair to feel modern without screaming for attention, while the black and white combo is as understated as they come.
Construction and Fit
There might be less content overall than our Aero Burst review, and that’s because the Aero Spark doesn’t reinvent the wheel—it just trims the fat. It keeps the same Hyperburst midsole foam, the same carbon-infused plate, and the Goodyear rubber outsole. What changes? Mostly proportions.
The Aero Spark is lighter and lower. Skechers dropped 6mm of stack height (now at 36mm in the heel, 30mm in the forefoot) and shed over an ounce of weight compared to the Burst. At 9.7 oz, it leans more toward the speed trainer category, and it feels surprisingly nimble.
It’s also worth noting that while the shoe may not feel featherlight out of the box, it definitely disappears underfoot once you start moving. Fit-wise, it’s true to size with a snug midfoot wrap and just enough toe room for natural splay.
Upper
The Aero Spark swaps the mesh upper found in the Aero Burst for a more refined woven material. It’s breathable and light, with an embedded lacing system that really secures the foot without needing to cinch aggressively. The collar is nicely padded—enough for comfort, but not puffy—and we didn’t experience any hot spots or weird pressure zones.
Also worth highlighting: the new Hyperburst Pro sockliner, which adds a bit of plushness and bounce that complements the rest of the midsole setup nicely. All in all, a no-nonsense, well-done upper that disappears once you’re running.
Midsole
Here’s where the Aero Spark really earns its keep – and why we hate it that people write off Skechers immediately. The Hyperburst midsole, paired with the embedded carbon-infused plate, brings a responsive ride that still feels forgiving. Thanks to the addition of the Hyperburst Pro sockliner, you get just a touch more cushioning than you might expect from a shoe that’s clearly designed for faster efforts.
It’s got a subtle but effective rocker that encourages a smooth transition, especially for midfoot strikers. Heel strikers might notice the rocker more prominently—it’s not jarring, but it is noticeable, and that added awareness might be something you’d prefer to avoid during your runs. At $130, this is an impressive midsole package that undercuts a lot of the competition price-wise without cutting corners on performance.
Outsole
Goodyear rubber is back, and that’s never a bad thing. The patterning here differs from the Aero Burst, but performance-wise, it’s just as solid. You get a reliable grip across wet and dry surfaces with no slippage on tight turns or quick accelerations. Durability seems on par with similar offerings—nothing revolutionary, but more than serviceable.
Conclusion
The Aero Spark is a confident, well-priced speed trainer that’s versatile enough for daily miles, uptempo sessions, and even some light racing (think maybe half marathon). It’s not trying to be flashy or groundbreaking—just solid, smart, and surprisingly stylish. At $130, this is a serious value and a serious contender. Skechers isn’t playing around anymore, and the Aero Spark is another new launch that proves it.
