Back in the High Life Again: Alpine Solstice by Alpine Running

The Alpine Solstice is back for its second year, and Alpine Running is turning up the dial on adventure. Happening on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, this high-desert celebration of long days, summer trails, and mountain air now features two distances: the original Half Marathon and a brand new 55-Miler for those who want to really make the most of the daylight.

Alpine Running is no stranger to the Central Oregon trail scene—they’re also behind Run the Rock in the fall and the ultra-classic Oregon Cascades 100M, among others. But this event stands out for its mid-summer magic. Long daylight hours, forested singletrack, and mountain views come together for a truly dreamy half marathon experience in the high desert.

The half course is largely unchanged from last year, with about 1,300 feet of elevation gain on flowing, runnable trails—perfect for seasoned trail runners looking for speed or road runners looking to dip their toes into trail racing.

The 55k features 4,200 feet of gain amd will cruise past the iconic Tumalo Falls, one of Central Oregon’s most photographed natural landmarks, and weave through lush forest trails with stunning views of the high Cascade peaks. The course consists of 90% single-track and 10% two-track trails.

A few quick reminders:

  • No dogs allowed on course due to permitting requirements.
  • No drop-bags
  • Post-race party at the finish line will include snacks, beverages, and all the good vibes.
  • Course map, lodging tips, and more are available on the Alpine Running website.

Whether you’re a local Bendite or coming in from out of town, this is a great excuse to lace up, soak up the sun, and log some miles in one of Oregon’s most beautiful places.
