Looks
At first glance, the Sonic 7 almost looks identical to the Infinite Pro 2, and we did a double take initially to confirm they were indeed different. Both shoes share a clean and minimal aesthetic, with the Sonic 7 offering simple black, gray, and other neutral color options. However, for those who want something with more pop, there’s also a vibrant red colorway available. It’s a great choice for runners who prefer their shoes to stand out a bit more.
What really stands out about the Sonic 7, to me, is its versatility. The sleek, classic design works just as well on runs as it does when you’re out running errands or hanging out. It’s the type of shoe you can throw on with anything, from athletic wear to casual jeans, without worrying about looking out of place. There is definitely a spot in most closets for that. It’s always great to have a pair on hand that can fulfill multiple needs at once – something most running shoes can’t.
Construction and Fit
The jacquard mesh construction of the Sonic 7 provides excellent breathability and a supportive, yet comfortable fit. It hugs your foot snugly but without feeling overly restrictive. It’s definitely much more streamlined than the Infinite Pro 2 – a little narrower, a little less bulk in the heel, just a little less overall – it’s just more sleek and simple. The unattached tongue isn’t as cushioned, but I actually preferred a little more than the gusseted version in the Infinite Pro 2 (which I felt was a little too short).
As a low-stack shoe, the Sonic 7 sits closer to the ground, providing a responsive ride and ground contact. Love it or hate it, this design is ideal for runners seeking a more natural and stable running experience.
Specs

Upper
The jacquard mesh upper ensures a breathable and supportive fit, keeping your foot comfortable during runs. Its clean, no-frills design is focused on function, providing structure without unnecessary bulk or weight.
As mentioned before, the tongue isn’t as cushioned as the Infinite Pro 2, and the heel isn’t as cushioned either. Regardless it still provides a soft and secure hold.
Midsole
The midsole features Under Armour’s super-critical updated HOVR foam, delivering a comfortable and responsive ride. You are getting quite a bit less stack than other UA releases (6mm less than the Infinite Pro 2 and 17mm(!) less than the Infinite Mega. But there’s just enough cushioning for daily training while offering energy return and a balanced feel.
It ain’t cushioned, but it’s not really billing itself that way – so let’s enjoy it for what it aims to be! And, lets be honest, there’s not a lot of $110 shoes with super critical midsole foam!
Outsole
The one-piece rubber outsole on the Sonic 7 is durable and dependable. Nothing really negative to say here. It provided excellent traction during our test runs, handling pavement and light trails with ease. No slipping or sliding here—this outsole does its job well.
Conclusion
The Under Armour Sonic 7 is a very solid budget-friendly running shoe. With its clean design, reliable performance, and updated features it’s a solid choice for runners looking to get quality without spending a fortune.
