Silver Linings and Steep Climbs: Conquering the Falls at the Silver Falls Trail Challenge

If you’ve never had the opportunity to run at Silver Falls State Park in Sublimity, OR, it should at least be on your bucket list. If you want to make that bucket list a reality, sign up today for the 2022 Silver Falls Trail Challenge, hosted by Bivouac Racing. This race will be held this year on March 2nd and you’ll have a ¼ Marathon and a ½ Marathon to choose from, as well as a super challenging 12-mile Ruck.

I’ve run around Silver Falls many times, and the beauty of the trails there never gets old. Whether you’re a first timer or a seasoned trail runner, you’ll love the scenic views. Prepare to see several amazing waterfalls and encounter about 800 feet of elevation gain on the course.

The ¼ Marathon will begin at 9:30AM at the South Falls Day-Use Area of the park and the cost is $74 unless you wait until the last minute and register day-of, in which case you’ll pay more (cash, check, or Venmo) The route will take runners on a gorgeous loop around the famed Trail of Ten Falls.

The half marathon and 12-mile Ruck will begin a half hour earlier – at 9:00AM. The cost for these options are $84 and $94 respectively – again unless you wait til the day of the race to register. This option will also begin at the South Falls Day-Use Area to take runners on the same loop as the ¼ distance, but you’ll get an additional loop to reach the full half marathon distance.

Silver Falls State Park will collect a $6 fee per car (cash or card, again) to park. Packet pick up will be on race day and will begin at 7:00AM.

Get ready! You won’t regret this one!
