If you’ve spent any time reading our reviews, you know we lean toward a more casual, relatable style. Think of us as the “neighbor next door” of running gear reviews. When we review something like running shoes, for example, we imagine how we’d explain them to a curious neighbor who might ask, “Hey, what’s the deal with those shoes?” It’s this middle-ground approach—accessible, yet informed—that we strive to bring to our readers.
We know there are plenty of amazing websites out there that dive deep into the technology behind every product or cater to the hardcore athlete. Those sites are fantastic, and we encourage you to check them out, too. But we’ve carved out a niche for those looking for approachable insights that balance tech talk with real-world practicality.
That brings us to the box of X-BIONIC apparel that landed on our doorstep. One look at the packaging—with its detailed breakdown of advanced technologies—and we got a tad nervous. Is this the sort of things we can talk about in our ethos? The innovation packed into these items is undeniable, and while we’re no strangers to geeking out over cutting-edge features, we’re committed to staying true to our ethos: keeping it accessible and relatable.
With that in mind, here’s our take on X-BIONIC’s latest offerings. Let’s dive in.
We recently got our hands on three pieces from the TWYCE Collection, a line that’s meticulously engineered to tackle moisture and heat during intense activities in warm climates. We also had some socks sent as well.
Breaking It Down
The Twyce Collection focuses on keeping you cool and dry when the heat is on, and it’s split into two distinct categories: Twyce Race and Twyce Run.
The Twyce Race line combines high compression with a sleek, athletic fit and made for mid- to long-distance runs at high intensity. On the other hand, the Twyce Run collection takes a more relaxed fit approach for lower-intensity, short- to mid-distance training sessions. While both categories share impressive features like thermoregulation, odor control, and drip prevention, their differences in fit and function make them unique.
The function comes in the form of two specific additions:
- Advanced Muscle Support: Compression ridges in both collections boost endurance, reduce lactate build-up, and accelerate recovery, all while promoting active cooling.
- Neural Impulse Transmission: This might sound like sci-fi, but it’s real: the Neural-Response-Bandage applies targeted pressure to optimize neural impulses. Translation? You stay ready and perform at your best.
Whether you’re chasing a new personal best or simply looking for gear to handle the heat, the TWYCE Collection brings serious innovation to the table. We’re excited to dive deeper into each piece and share our thoughts!
Twyce Race Shirt
Let’s start with the shirt: it’s definitely compression wear—no doubt about that. It feels a bit lighter and more flexible compared to some of the super heavy-duty compression options out there, but it still fits snugly against the body.
As someone rocking a “dad bod” at 40 (fit, but still rocking the parenting life), I can’t say I’d feel totally comfortable wearing it solo outside of my garage. It’s not that I’m shy about my not-quite-6-pack torso, but for me, it’s more of a treadmill or undershirt kind of piece.
I did wonder what sizing up would do. Would it make it less restrictive and more wearable? Maybe. But then again, would that take away from the whole point of compression gear? Perhaps. Either way, just know going in—this shirt is serious about compression.
Twyce Race 2in1 Shorts
The shorts, though? Sort of a different story. I was a little skeptical at first, especially when I pulled them out of the bag—they looked so tiny I questioned if they’d even fit over my larger thighs. But once on, they were a pleasant surprise.
The inner layer offers great compression that stretches comfortably down to the knee, while the lightweight outer layer (let’s call it partially a “modesty cover”) gives it a polished, wearable look. No drawstring needed—the fit stays put, even during activity, which I didn’t expect.
These shorts have quickly become a favorite, especially since I initially thought I’d struggle to like them. Definitely a win in my book!
Twyce Run Singlet
The TWYCE Run Singlet is part of X-BIONIC’s “Run” line, and the fit reflects that—it’s a bit different from the “Race” gear. It’s slightly looser overall, which I really appreciate. As the weather warms up, I can see this becoming a go-to piece for outdoor runs.
While the fit is still on the snug side (it is X-BIONIC, after all), it’s more relaxed compared to their race gear and feels like something I’d actually wear as a standalone option. For me, that’s a win—I’m a lot more likely to throw this on without overthinking it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still fitted, but it’s more approachable and a lot easier to work into regular runs.

Overall
All in all, the X-BIONIC gear is undeniably impressive, both in its technology and design. It’s the kind of gear that feels purpose-built for runners chasing big performance goals. While casual and intermediate runners can absolutely benefit from its features, the higher price point, active fit, and performance-driven tech seem tailored more for those who are seriously focused on their running journey. There’s nothing wrong with that—it’s just worth noting.
If you’re looking for gear that supports high-level performance and you’re ready to invest in your runs, this could be a great addition to your wardrobe. For more casual runners, it might feel a bit extra, but for those with big goals, it’s likely worth every penny.
