We’re back with another review of Reebok’s latest running footwear release, and this time we’re taking things offroad with the Reebok Floatzig 1 Adventure. While we’ve previously reviewed the Floatzig 1, this more rugged version offers something new for trail enthusiasts.

Looks:
The Floatzig 1 Adventure shares the same design language as Reebok’s other running shoes, maintaining a cohesive brand identity. While the black replaces the white from the original Floatzig 1, the vibrant yellow and blue accents remain, adding a fun pop of color. Although I’m typically not a fan of black shoes (for reasons I can’t quite explain), the bold accents have won me over in terms of style.
Construction:
Upper:
The upper is a standout feature, offering a well-balanced combination of comfort and breathability. The mesh material provides a secure fit while allowing for adequate airflow. Near the toes, the upper tapers and incorporates a thin layer of abrasion-resistant 3D print, which Reebok describes as a toe cap.
The toebox, while not officially labeled as “wide,” offers ample room, enhancing comfort during runs.
Midsole:
Reebok’s Floatride cushion is one of the brand’s strengths, and it’s prominently featured here. The dual-density Floatride Energy foam combined with CMEVA support creates a bouncy and propulsive feel, despite the shoe’s relative weight.
At over 10 ounces for a men’s size 9, the Floatzig 1 Adventure is not a lightweight speedster, but it doesn’t feel cumbersome on the foot. The midsole’s responsiveness helps maintain a lively ride, making the shoe feel lighter than it actually is.
Outsole:
As with other Reebok running shoes, the outsole is distinctive and gives the “zig” its name. The outsole is attached to the midsole via a thin strip, a design I was initially skeptical about but have come to appreciate. It’s not something you notice while running, which is a good thing.
In the Floatzig 1 Adventure, the outsole features widespread coverage, especially across the forefoot, with exposed midsole areas in the middle. The 4.5 mm lugs provide some ruggedness, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied with their performance on technical terrain.
The uniform lug pattern didn’t offer the grip I expected during more challenging runs. I tested them in various conditions, including rain, and they performed adequately in most settings but struggled on rocky surfaces. While not a dealbreaker, I wouldn’t recommend these for highly technical trails.
However, for a middle-of-the-road trail runner like myself, they should meet most needs.
Overall:
The Reebok Floatzig 1 Adventure is a well-rounded trail shoe, combining style, comfort, and responsive cushioning. Despite its weight, the shoe feels agile, thanks to its energetic midsole. While the outsole performs well on moderate trails, it may not offer enough grip for more technical terrain. Overall, it’s a reliable choice for trail runners looking for a balanced offroad experience.
