What better way to honor Martin Luther King than to celebrate him at the 2024 MLK Dream Run, which includes a 5k, a 10k, and 15k? This run will be held at Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus on Sunday, September 22nd and it’s a USATF certified course.
The cost for this event is only $40 for the 5k, $50 for the 10k, and $60 for the 15k, and there’s a free kid’s race too! The event is an annual fundraiser for the Soul District Business Association, which has a Small Business Training Program as well as a Youth Entrepreneurship Program (ages 16 to 24) to provide coaching to those who need it.
There’s a fun kickoff celebration which starts Saturday September 21st and it’s a great chance to pick up your race packet at PCC and grab some food and drinks while also enjoying live entertainment and the Soul-Fun vendor market. There will be a raffle for awesome prizes, including a round-trip ticket from Alaska Airlines.
The 15k will start at 8:00AM. The 10k will begin at 8:10AM and the 5k will take off at 8:20AM. Every participant will receive swag bags filled with sponsor gifts, a Nike t-shirt, a cold beverage, and a grilled cheese sandwich served on Dave’s Killer Bread at the finish line. The overall fastest in each distance will win one round-trip airline ticket from Alaska Airlines.
The winners from the Open, Masters, and Super-Masters will get their weight in beverages courtesy of Widmer Brothers. Even the youth category will have a winner with a swag bag prize package. All winners get medals too!
