Speed and Scenic Views: An Inside Look at the 2024 Foot Traffic Flat Marathon

The 4th of July is right around the corner (can you believe it?) and that means it’s time to make the yearly trek out to Sauvie Island for some sweet treats and the Foot Traffic Flat Marathon/Half/Quarter/5k. There is something for everyone at this event, which has become one of Portland’s favorite 4th of July traditions! And what is it about this event that makes it a staple in our race schedule? How about this:

  • As the title suggests, it’s one of the flattest and fastest courses on the West Coast… That in itself is a draw, (no ‘gently rolling hills’ here, which we all know is rarely the case!!)
  • You’ll get to run on beautiful and picturesque Sauvie Island – with its scenic views, wildlife, charming farmland, majestic bald eagles, quaint homes, and friendly residents, just 15 minutes North of Portland.
  • The half and full marathon are certified courses and the Full Marathon is a Boston Qualifier! Remember… flat and.. fast!!
  • Ice cream will be your reward at the end of the race! Local Eugene company Alden’s Organics will be providing the ice cream (including vegan options!!)
  • Lots of fresh fruit will be waiting at the finish line as well, plus a fun food cart that serves all sorts of additional food compliments of the Pumpkin Patch.
  • Proceeds benefit the Sauvie Island Fire District.
  • Awesome bling, including a custom bib, a shirt, and a super cool medal!

Register now, as this race always SELLS OUT, and for good reason. I hope to see you there!!
