The Running:

Hudson River Greenway:

  • Running along the western edge of Manhattan, the Hudson River Greenway offers a refreshing escape from the urban hustle with its uninterrupted 13-mile stretch of paved pathway. You can pick it up at any number of points throughout Manhattan, but I personally like taking the Subway up to 181st St (or stop at 167th and tour the Nike Indoor Track Armory first) and head back downtown for a one-way extravaganza.

  • Along the way, you will be treated to stunning views of the waterfront, including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Jersey City skyline – as well as the tall buildings in Manhattan as you get closer. The flat terrain and wide lanes make it an ideal route for long-distance training or leisurely runs, while frequent water fountains and rest areas provide convenient pit stops along the way. It’s nice to have dedicated lanes for pedestrians to enjoy some miles without dodging cars.

The Experience:

Location and Aesthetic:

Nestled in the heart of SOHO, the Museum of Ice Cream in New York City seamlessly blends into the trendy and chic vibe of the neighborhood. Its exterior, adorned in bright pink hues, offers a tantalizing glimpse of the whimsical experience that awaits inside.

Interior Experience:

Upon entry, visitors are greeted with a delightful array of rooms, each offering a unique and immersive experience. From vibrant pink walls to larger-than-life ice cream sculptures, the museum’s interior is a feast for the eyes. The aesthetic is playful, inviting guests to unleash their inner child and indulge in the sweet delights that lie ahead.

Ice Cream Sampling:

One of the highlights of the museum experience is the opportunity to sample a variety of delicious ice cream flavors. Each visitor is treated to at least five generous scoops of ice cream, allowing them to explore a range of delectable options.

Whether you’re a fan of classic flavors or prefer vegan alternatives, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Personal favorites include the simple yet flavorful vegan vanilla topped with a refreshing coconut twist.

Interactive Rooms:

The museum boasts a diverse range of interactive rooms, ensuring that there’s never a dull moment during your visit. From ball pits made of colorful “sprinkles” to engaging carnival games, each room offers a unique opportunity for entertainment and exploration.

The highlight for many is the chance to experience the thrill of Manhattan’s largest indoor slide, adding an extra element of excitement to the adventure.

Overall Experience:

In a city bustling with attractions, the Museum of Ice Cream offers a refreshing escape where visitors can simply have fun, let loose, and indulge in a plethora of frozen treats.

Whether you’re a local looking for a unique day out or a tourist seeking a memorable experience, this whimsical wonderland is sure to leave a lasting impression. So, grab a spoon, embrace your sweet tooth, and embark on a journey through a world where ice cream dreams come to life.
