Step Into the Scenic: Sneak Peek into the 2024 Sisters Country Half Marathon/50k Adventure

Race season is really just beginning on the trails, and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than to head out to Sisters for the 2024 Sisters Country Half Marathon/50k on Sunday, May 5th.  This race, brought to us by Alpine Running, will begin and end at Village Green Park.

The 50k, which begins at 7:30AM, will offer participants gorgeous views of the Cascade Peaks, most notably the Three Sisters. This course is considered a great first ultra, offering both 2400 ft of climbing and descending, with 6 fully stocked aid stations. Best of all, this ultra has generous cut-off times so you can actually enjoy the journey. Expect 85% single track trails and 15% gravel roads.

The half marathon begins at 9:00AM and is a relatively fast half with only 700 feet of climbing. There are 2 aid stations on course and 95% of the course is on single track trails. Like the 50k, the cut-off times are better than most, so it would be an amazing first trail half.

Before the race, enjoy coffee with Backporch Coffee as well as some yummy treats from Sisters Bakery. After you’ve completed your race of choice, there’s a free burrito bar by Longboard Louie’s as well as beer from Cascade Lakes Brewing for all participants and volunteers. Awards will go to the top 3 non-binary/female/male runners and all finishers will get a finisher medal.
