Strava Segment of the Week: Cascade Finish (Turner)

Sadly, the 2024 Cascade Half/10k this weekend was moved to a virtual setting due to the winter storm. Salem is under ice right now, and I can only imagine what the roads are like in the small town of Turner – where this race takes place.

That being said, the race is allowing for 8 days (today through the 21st) to run your distance and input your time. We are hearing a lot of runners are still planning to make the drive this week and run the actual course as their virtual time. If you are (or even if you want to eventually tackle these quiet backcountry roads), check out our latest Strava Segment of the Week.

The Cascade Finish is a 5k/3.02-mile segment that is part of the course – the last 3 miles of the half. The current record holders are from 2020 and even the famed Dave Harkin has his name in the top 10!

Also, if you use Strava (or want to get started – it’s free!) please join the Run Oregon club! We currently have over 800 members! It’s a fun way to keep track of your miles and see how others in the area are doing.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
