Run Oregon is Kickin’ It in the Brooks Launch 8 (releasing 1/1/21)

When I first started running, over 10 years ago, I was like many new runners who just pulled on whatever tennis shoes I had in the closet. I had no idea if this February Resolution (I was a little too late for New Year’s) was going to stick, so my whole wardrobe for the first few weeks was whatever cotton shirt, sweatpants, non-work socks, and shoes with laces I could find. After my first 5K, I knew this running thing was going to be my thing, and luckily I listened to the super smart runners online and in books who said to go to a running store for real running shoes (bye bye Keds).

My first running shoes were Brooks, and the brand has been a staple in my closet ever since. They are consistently well made and offer great support over lots of miles. And the Launch 8, coming out this January, is no different. Well made. Lots of support. And an unexpected pop of glitter that made me smile.

As I first opened the box, I was a little nervous that the shoes were mostly white. We are not supposed to choose a shoe based on the color (my last pair of shoes are burnt orange), but I admit I did judge the color a bit. After the first run that included some rainy puddles, the white was not a problem any more. Even though my shoes had (and have) a lot of life still in them, they look well used and well-loved after just a few weeks on the roads.

When out on a run or a walk, I noticed the smooth flow of my feet almost rolling along on the ground. The support along the bottom of the shoe supported each step all the way through and back up again. And the roomy toe box had my toes feeling good after near the end of my neighborhood 10K route. These shoes definitely fit into the positive Brooks experience I’m used to.

And it’s probably a great sign that my roommate keeps trying to steal them. Great for the shoes. Not great for me as I hide MY new shoes in the back of the closet.

Here’s a little bit more about the science behind these new shoes…

Lightweight and lightning fast, the Launch 8 offers a fun, snappy ride. With updated BioMoGo DNA cushioning, an airy mesh upper, and rubber in the forefoot, this shoe responds to your stride and lets you capitalize on your forward momentum in every step.
