Race Preview: 2019 Pacific City Beach Challenge

Beach lovers, rejoice! The 10th Annual Pacific City Beach Challenge is just around the corner! If you are a fan of running on the beach, this is the race for you. 5K and 10K racers will start just west of the Pelican Brewing Company, run south down the mix of soft and hard-packed sand to a turn-around and will finish where they started. There will also be a kids run starting at the same location.

Participants will receive a t-shirt, a hand-made medal, and complimentary Pelican beer (or root beer). After the race there will be awards, music, and snacks.

This annual event is put on by the volunteer Board of Directors and staff of Nestucca Valley Early Learning Center (NVELC.) Proceeds from this event go to support the NVELC in nearby Hebo. The money raised by the race and through donations goes towards classroom materials, teacher training, and helps us keep our rates reasonable for families, while paying a living wage for our hard working teachers.

Take this opportunity to run on the beach of beautiful Pacific City while helping with local early childhood education. And don’t forget that free Pelican beer!
