Race Preview: 2018 Burnt Creek Marathon and Half (Vancouver, WA)

The 4th of July weekend is chock full of races of all distances. The notorious combo is the Firecracker 4 (or 5, depending on the length of the weekend). This is a daily series of marathons or halfs for the serious to tackle. This year there are 5, and the Burnt Creek event is number 4. A trail run located just outside of Vancouver Washington, it utilizes an out and back course at David Douglas park on July 7th.

Registration is currently open through Run Sign Up. The marathon is $60 and the half is five dollars less, plus the associated processing fees. Event shirts are available for an extra $15. All finishers will receive a medal, but the event is capped at 100 participants. There will be one aid station, at the start/finish area of the event. This will be reached at the end of the half and full as well as in the middle of the full. Participants of the full marathon will traverse the out and back course twice. There will be a couple of unmanned water stations along the course, which is open. Organizers request that participants do not travel more than two abreast and be aware of all traffic. The event will be chip timed by Huber Timing. The race starts at 7 am, but there is an early start option at 6 for those who may take longer than 5 hours. Pace pickup starts at 5:30 a.m. for the early starters.
