Race Preview: 2018 Race to Remember (Vancouver)

The Race to Remember event in Vancouver, WA was formed in 2009 after the founder, Claudia Cardenas, lost her fiancé Jason Vinyard. Jason was a 20-year Army Veteran serving at Ft. Vancouver at the time of his passing. This event, along with others hosted by this non-profit throughout the year, is to support, remember, and honor our past and present military heroes who fought for our freedom.

This year’s event will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th, and will start and finish at the Remembrance Wall on Phil Arnold Way in Vancouver. The race options will be a half marathon, 10K, or 5K, which are all out and back courses along the Columbia River trail. The first half mile of each will be the “Honor Mile”, where the pathway will be lined with American Flags and photos of military fallen heroes. A one-mile walk will also be part of the event line-up.
