Race Preview: 2018 Falcon 15K Relay (Hillsboro)

Great cause, great price, great course, great everything! The annual Falcon 15k Relay held in Hillsboro, Oregon is a fundraiser for Liberty Fit, a program for students at Liberty High School where students, staff, family, and community members train together to complete a half marathon. It particularly focuses on uninvolved and “at-risk” students and giving them a chance to experience personal success as they become part of a caring community that shares a common goal.  How amazing is that!?

The main event is the 15K Relay. Each team member will run the same 5K route and upon finishing, tag off to the next runner on their team.  Runners who choose not to be part of a relay team have the option of completing a 15K, 10K or 5K run or 5K walk. The 5K route starts on the high school’s track and then heads out and around rural roads and industrial parks and loops back to finish at the track. The route is mostly flat meaning you can get some fast times in!  The 5K is USATF certified and chip-timed and there are medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the races. There is also a Falcon Flyer Kids Run which is a free 300 meter race for kids 10 yrs of age and younger. There will be post race smoothies from Jamba Juice and entertainment too!

At only $30 a person or $75 for a team of 3 if you register ahead of time, you can’t beat the price! Plus you get a cool finisher’s medal included! Woo!
