Strava Segment of the Week: High Rocks Bridge Sprint

Today we have a super-short segment – not even a tenth of a mile! The segment is the High Rocks Bridge Sprint South in Gladstone over the Old 82nd Drive Bridge. It’s been attempted 1,095 times by 226 people as of today. Go check it out and see how quick you can get across the span which bridges the Clackamas River.

Our segment from two weeks ago was the Hillsboro Stadium 800, but there are no new course records, so keep trying.

Remember, Run Oregon has created its own Strava “Club” (free to join, of course). Join Run Oregon on Strava here!

As of December 15, 2017, the course records for the segment High Rocks Bridge Sprint South are:

Women’s: Angela Lindbo from January 2017, 21 sec

Men’s: Dain Cason, 15 sec

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Friday, December 29 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 12.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
