Thanksgiving is all about turkey, turkey, turkey. Our turkey loving friends have Turkey-themed runs at every corner. But what about all the people that don’t eat turkey? Luckily, we live in Portland and there is a race for all the people that don’t want to eat a bird for their holiday dinner. That race is the Tofurky Trot and it takes place on Thanksgiving morning, November 23rd, 2017.
The Tofurky Trot is a non-chip timed 5K and the proceeds go to support tons of local non-profits that support a compassionate plant-based lifestyle, such as several animal sanctuaries. Prizes will be given to the top male, female, and child winner as well as best costume. The race starts at Oaks Park and will follow along the Springwater Corridor and off on to gravel trails and will at one point hit a set of cement stairs.
Because the race starts at Oaks Park, there is a large indoor area to stay warm before you run as well as lots of tasty vegan snacks. Every participant gets a large reusable bag with registration. Shirts will be on site for $15. This race also provides Doggy Valet, where you can have volunteers watch your dog while you run inside to check in for the race. There will also be a dog costume contest, so get those pups dressed up before you head out for the race! You can pick-up your packet the day before the race at the Foot Traffic in Sellwood from 4pm-7pm.
