Race Preview: 2017 Manzanita Beach Run (A Run Oregon Featured Race!) – DISCOUNT CODE

Not that any of us need an excuse to visit the beach, but if you do, make this event part of the plan!

In the beautiful coastal city of Manzanita, the Beach Walk & Run 5k and 10k (or kid’s 1 miler!) is in its 27th year and takes place on Saturday, July 22nd. The course is actually on the sand, stretching from the cliffs of Neakhanie Mountain to the Nehalem Bay Jetty. It is incredibly gorgeous and fun is guaranteed, with music, food, top finisher awards, and a raffle! Here is a little description of the course:

The race begins at the foot of the Laneda Avenue, that runs through the center of Manzanita, on the sandy shores of Manzanita Beach. Runners begin in a single start heading south towards Nehalem Bay Jetty. Runners will then change course and head back north towards a photoesque finish of Neahkahnie Mountain meeting the sands of Manzanita Beach. Mile markers and volunteers on course provide direction for runners on turn arounds as well as aid.

They’ve worked hard to perfect their finisher’s t-shirts with lots of community input, but only have 350 available, so sign up quickly if you want one!

Also, leashed dogs are welcome, so bring your furry family members and enjoy the beach! The Manzanita Music Festival is also occuring the same weekend, so consider sticking around and checking it out. Also, don’t forget about our Make a Day of It post at one of the best locations in the city!

This race is hosted annually by the North County Recreation District and other great local sponsors.
