Small Race Preview: 2017 Mildred’s Trail Dash 5K & 9K (Oakland)

Singletrack. Oak savannahs. Doug Fir forests. Shade. These features are music to a trail runner’s ears in the summer running months. After the dust has settled from all the 4th of July events, Mildred’s Trail Dash in Oakland, OR offers the perfect getaway run on a beautiful course.

You can pick either the 5k or 9k option and expect some hills and technical terrain. Friends and family can hang out at the new campground and take an easy stroll on the nature trail, while exploring some historic displays around the park.

She started casually running in 2012 and trained up for the "Run Like A Mother" 5k as her first proper event. She got a taste of the runner's high and is now a veteran ultrarunner. While running is her favorite sport, she is a "Jill of all trades, master of none" - her other hobbies include rock climbing, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and traveling the world. On her elusive rest days, she is an avid bookworm and a Green Bay Packers fan.
