Strava Segment of the Week: Terrace Drive Climb

Two weeks ago, the Strava Segment of the Week was run in Wilsonville through the amazing Graham Oaks Nature Park. The Coyote Way segment, which was a relatively flat 2.1-km segment, has a new CR on the men’s side. Congrats and great work to Eric Frome, who ran an 8:12 on September 9th, bettering the previous record of 8:33. The women’s record will stay with Gail Mast.

This week’s SSOTW is in Lake Oswego. The Terrace Drive Climb is on South Shore Drive, and is what Strava categorizes as a “4” on their “climb category” rating scale. It’s 1.5 kilometers at a 5% incline, gaining 83 meters in that distance. It’s a serious hill to try and run fast!

It has been tried 795 times by 165 people. Give it a shot yourself in the next two weeks and see if you can do it faster!

As of September 22, 2016, the course records for the Terrace Drive Climb are:

Women’s: Annie R. from September 2015, 7:41

Men’s:  Adam DiVergilio from September 2014, 6:01

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, October 6 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 11.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
