Race Preview: Springwater Half Marathon, 10k, 5k (Gresham)

Springwater Half

Springwater Half

Are you looking for a race to run this weekend? It's not to late to register for the inaugural Springwater Half Marathon, 10k and 5k in Gresham on Sunday, September 11. The races start and end in East Gresham Park, where the day will start the free kids run for those ages 12 and under, followed by a 9/11 recognition ceremony. Proceeds benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Registration is open online, and prices go up on Friday. The course for all distances starts at East Gresham Park, and after a few blocks on neighborhood streets, runners hop onto the Springwater Trail and will not encounter any vehicular traffic there (although the trail will be open to other walkers/runners/cyclists).

The 5k and the 10k are straight out and back courses, heading east to their respective turnaround points, then finishing back at the park. The half marathon first heads out the same as the 5k and 10k, but instead of finishing on the way back, runners go past the start/finish to the second turnaround point, before heading back to the finish.

After the race, stick around for music, food by Qdoba, drinks, and sponsored giveaways. All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal, and awards are given to the top finishers.
