Race Preview: 2016 Eugene Brews Cruise 5k

For some, Labor Day weekend means packing up the family and hitting the road in a quest to find the perfect camping destination. For others, it might mean time off from work to just kick back and relax. And for the slightly, overly ambitious running nerd, it means trying to improve your 5k time and sipping on a cold brew post race. If you find yourself in the very last category, you'll be happy to know that Level 32 Racing will be putting on their annual Brews Cruise 5k, set to take place Monday, September 5 at 12pm in Eugene, Oregon. The Labor Day event will benefit Head Start of Lane County.

The 5k start and finish line will be at Hop Valley Brewing Company on 1st Avenue in the Whiteaker District. From the Hop Valley Brewing Company, the course will immediately head West on 1st Ave., turning into Railroad Blvd. then right onto River Road, turns right into the surrounding neighborhoods, for a tour of the park paths and the North Whiteaker District. Post race festivities will take place at Hop Valley Brewing Company and will include (of course) beer for those over the age of 21 (ID required); children will be allowed on the premises.  Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and top three in each age group. All participants will have a chance to win one of three pairs of HOKA One One running shoes which will be randomly awarded. Hop Valley/Level 32 Racing logo’d pint glasses will also be up for grabs.

Registration can be found here and will be open now until 9/4. Entry fees are as follows: $25.00 Ages 18 to 59 (add $12 for a tech shirt); $20.00 Ages 17 and under (add $12 for a tech shirt); $20.00 Ages 60 and over (add $12 for a tech shirt).

If you’re a beer loving runner, the Brews Cruise 5k sounds like an event you will not want to miss. There will be other breweries within walking distance of Hop Valley Brewing Company you can also check out. For the non-drinking runners, this will be a fun event that benefits a great cause and offers up some great prizes.
