Race Preview: 2016 Albany Dirty Dash

It seems there is a glut of obstacle races that go with the trend of testing your will and full body strength. There is a certain kind of pleasure in that, but it is sometimes preferable to regress a little and find the fun in playing in the mud. The Dirty Dash 5K at Albany Motorsports Park on July 16th is just the place to do that.

The venue may seem out of the ordinary, but I did a similar run here a couple years ago and had a blast. Situated right off I5 just south of Salem it is easy to get to. Just remember to bring $5 for parking, as registration does not cover it. It does however cover a liberal dose of mud, slip n slide, foam pit, t shirt, temporary tattoo and a finishers medal. Right now it is $55 until the 12th, at which point it increases $10. Day of event registration is $70.

So if you feel like letting loose and having a little fun, the Dirty Dash will definitely be the place to be. It’s that kind of race that I would recommend bringing a couple towels and a change of clothes to avoid destroying your cars interior on the way home. Meander down to Albany on July 16th for a 5K where it will not be about your finishing time, but having a fun time.
