Race Preview: 2016 Whine on the Vine – July 17th in Hillsboro

Whine on the Vine: 5-Mile Adventure Run has added to the fun and more reasons to include the ‘h’ with the wine. Some of the fun on Sunday, July 17th includes an adventure run, an improved slip-in-slide and mimosas for those 21 and over- all with views from the J Alvin Vineyards in Hillsboro. The run starts at 10:00am and will have some gorgeous views, challenging obstacles and a few rows of grapes and vines. And because it’s a vineyard, there will be hills.

In its third year, Whine on the Vine helps support Newberg High School Athletic Programs. This year proceeds will go to the Newberg High School Lacrosse Team. The course starts through the vineyard with views of the Cascade Range, includes some obstacles and takes advantage of some Yamhill County trails.  Back at the vineyard, participants will get a few more obstacles and finish with a good, old fashioned slip-n-slide. Mimosas and finger food will be provided at the finish line.

There will be a wine tasting offered by the winery for a small fee, so bring cash if you want to take advantage of this perk. Awards will be given to the top finishers overall and age group winners. Register online for $30 through July 9th. Day of registration is available at 8:30am at the check-in table and will cost $35 .

If you want a chance to win a free entry, volunteer to give their new and improved ‘BOLDER’ slip-n-slide a test run. Whine on the Vine promises amazing views, challenging obstacles, some mimosas to celebrate the finish and all to help support a good cause. Not your typical 5-mile run, you’ll likely remember every mile with this one, not to mention the memories at the finish line.
