Small Race Previews: 4th of July Races in the Willamette Valley

There are a bunch of races on the 4th of July. We try to get to as many as we can, but sometimes there just isn't enough time in the week to get them all scheduled! If you are looking for some local races on your holiday, read below!


Stayton Fun Run (Stayton)

Start your 4th of July off right by participating in an annual event celebrating fitness Both the runs and walk of this annual event will take place on asphalt surfaces. The miles are marked and the courses are excellent for the competitive runner, fun runner and walker.

The Runs and Walk is being held in conjunction with Stayton’s 4th of July festival. The festival features such activities as a Habitat for Humanity Pancake Breakfast, Kid’s and Grand Parade, a community dinner, band concerts, variety show, kid’s games, food booths and a fantastic fireworks display.

C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run (Hillsboro)

The 16th annual C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run is dedicated to raising money for Tuality Healthcare’s cancer awareness and treatment programs. This local Independence Day tradition is a prelude to the famous Hillsboro Rotary parade, and includes three events—a Kids’ Dash, a timed 5K walk and run, and a health fair.

By participating in this family-friendly 5K walk and run, you’re helping to make a significant difference in the lives of the cancer patients we care for by allowing us to provide education programs, medical equipment, transportation assistance, and patient comfort necessities at our leading-edge cancer treatment facility, right here in Hillsboro.

Rick Posekany Memorial Run (Mill City)

4th of July Mini Marathon (Monmouth)

46th Annual running of this popular small town event! 2.6 mile (mostly downhill) one way mini-marathon along the route of the Western Days 4th of July Parade.  Course starts at the City Hall in Monmouth, OR and ends at the Independence Library in Independence, OR. The elevation drop from start to finish is 47 feet.
