Race Preview: 2016 Run with the Eagle 5k and Kid’s Fun Run

A photo from the 2014 Run With the Eagle 5k: Kelly Barten (with Eliza), Joe Dudman (with a nasty black eye – he’s not a Sith!), and the incredible Janelle Dickerson before the race.

Who likes hills? And low-cost races that benefit good causes? This, then, is the race for you!

At only $20 for adults 18+ and $10 for ages 17 and under, you can fit this race in your budget. Race shirts are only $5 for adults or kids, and the kid’s fun run is free.Funds benefit the programs at Sexton Mountain Elementary School.

The course runs up and over, down and around the hills near Sexton Mountain Elementary, making use of the Powerline Trail and the shaded neighborhood streets. I have run this one and found it to be well-organized and well-attended, especially by younger runners. Run it as a family or run it solo; make it a comfortable walk or try to earn a spot in the top three – this race is suitable for all types of runners and walkers.
