Small race preview: 2015 Run for the Fallen 5k in Clackamas

Run for the Fallen is a worldwide event benefitting a non-profit organization bearing the same name and was started back in 2008 by a group of runners who literally ran across America from California to Virginia, marking each mile for every soldier lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom. For 10 weeks, each runner marked each mile with an American flag in remembrance of each service member.

Each year since the run across America, runners from around the world have joined Run for the Fallen in remembering our fallen. Over 50,000+ participants and over 200,000+ miles have been collectively run in remembrance of those fallen in conflicts overseas. For more information, check out their Facebook page.

This year’s event again takes place at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas and is put on by Blue Star Mothers. There will be a live band following the run as well as a raffle. The event will help raise funds for the upcoming Gold Star Memorial at Willamette National Cemetary, honoring Oregon’s fallen.

When: Saturday, August 8th at 9:30am

Cost/Register: $35 (includes a shirt). Register here.
