The race directors of the reknowned McKenzie River Trail Run once again bring you the annual Run in The Country half marathon. This small town half is a flat, fast course in rural Coburg, Oregon. This event is put on by runners for runners. If you are looking for a half marathon PR – this could be the perfect course for you!
Coburg is just 7 miles north of Eugene and is known as a peaceful farming community. It is also a National Historic District with over 187 historic sites and structures. This race is held in conjunction with the annual Coburg Golden Years celebration. What a unique place to run! There is even a pre-race day “Run With the Race Directors” casual run on the course on Saturday for volunteers, sponsors, and friends who cannot run the Sunday race.
Started in 1997, Run in the Country includes a half marathon run and walk along with a free Kids Fun Run. There will be aid stations about every two miles with water, electrolyte drink, and energy gel. This professionally timed race will start on time and is well-marked. Awards will be given for male and female age group and overall winners for the run only.
This event is put on by local runners who are not paid for their efforts, but instead strive to put on a quality event for other runners. If there are proceeds from the race, they go towards next year’s event and local non-profits that focus on youth being physically active.
