It makes sense to tie together Fathers Day and a form of cancer that only affects men. In a move to raise awareness and educate, the Oregon Urology Institute will be putting on a 8K run and 5K walk on June 21st. Time is short to register before the next price jump, so follow the link and save a few $ before June 7th. Prostate cancer survivors get a complimentary entry if they contact the Renee at the Institute.
Billed as flat and fast, the course starts at the Urology Institute in Springfield and ends at the Gateway Mall. It is comprised of two bike bridge crossings, some neighborhoods, and the area around the mall. You can find the course maps on the Eclectic Edge event site. Day of event registration opens at 7 and the events start an hour later. Awards will be at 9:30, for the 8K only and will be give to the overall winners and top 3 in each age group.
Entry fees are refreshingly low, if you register by the end of the month it is only $15. The price jumps up $5 from then until June 20th. Kids 12 and under can participate for $10 before the price jump and $15 after. Add another $5 for DOE registration. Tech shirts are an additional $10 for adults and $7 for kids, but must be ordered before May 31st.
