Small race preview: Hustle 4 Health 5k

RunOregon-Logo-nonprofitThe Hustle 4 Health has been in Albany for a few years now. This year’s event, put on by the Albany Christian School, will raise money for a student in the school and their family. From the website:

McKenzie has been diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM). It is an illness that doctors believe swelled her spinal cord and left her paralyzed, unable to breathe on her own and she is in constant pain due to nerve damage.

McKenzie along with her mother Angie are living at a Children’s hospital in Portland. Although she is conscious and aware of her surroundings, McKenzie is on a ventilator to breathe and the simplest of tasks, such as scratching her nose, must be done by others.

At this time, McKenzie is expected to be paralyzed except for small movement in her left hand and her toes. McKenzie is also expected to remain on a ventilator as her diaphragm is also paralyzed.

Financial support for the Andersen family will go towards the ever increasing medical debt. Additionally, money raised will be used to help prepare McKenzie’s home for the day she is finally able to come home.

100% of the proceeds will benefit the family making this a truly wonderful experience. This is a race that NEEDS to be ran by everyone!
